Car leaves parkway

An elderly male driver lost control of his vehicle along the Southern State parkway in North Bellmore late Monday afternoon and crashed onto a residential street.
The man was driving westbound between exits 25 and 24 when he left the roadway, crashed through some shubbery and a picket fence, and came to rest after smashing into a parked pickup truck on Pershing Avenue.
The man suffered only minor injuries and police were investigating the accident.
